DODGERS and ENCLOSURES - The most important element to address is the appearance. These items can be a huge part of the overall look of your yacht. Rowing away from your vessel anchored in that pristine spot and looking back at her beautiful lines with that ugly box of a dodger..... Dodgers are a difficult design problem. They go at the main hatch, right in the busy, working area of the boat. Lots of stuff to allow for. Then there is the height. See over or see thru? The boom height. Main sheet and jib sheet clearance and who knows what all is in the way or has to be allowed for.
Our approach with new construction is to embrace the design time. Often we will meet with the boat owner to get a good idea of their needs and preferences and agree on basic elements. We will then bend and mount the SS frame. With the frame up and a little tape to simulate the lines, we can get a much better idea of the finished product and make adjustments that will better suit the job.
That said, if your existing canvas works for you and replicating those lines and details is the logical way to go, we can be on board with that.
